Unhappy Installing a Bathroom Exhaust Fan

I have an older house that has never had a exhaust fan in the upstairs bathroom . I have a older style roof that is not really flat, the roof extends down on the sides of the house.
I have asked several contractors to put in a exhaust fan but they say they are not sure how to go about putting one in this type of roof, I guess that is why there was never one installed in the first place.
If there is anyone that would have any idea about how to do this please let me know.

Smile exhaust fan

A pic. of the roof would be a help, but you could install an ex. fan through the wall if the roof is a problem. Is there no room in the attic to work? LUCK!

Is it shingled? Are you talking about a roof mounted exhaust fan or just your standard Broan fan that is in between the drywall and roof?

A standard Broan fan would just use a normal roof vent. It sounds you have kind of a barn roof which you could also use a wall vent similar to a dryer vent.

Since we're sharing pictures this is the vent I was thinking of: Broan Roof Vent Kit - RVK1A at The Home Depot

However, I would use insulated flex duct if you can.
