Recessed CFL plug-in Light to Hanging Pendant
I want to convert a recessed lighting to a hanging mini pendant and need some advice.
The recessed lighting is a CFL 4-pin base plug-in....not the CFL screw-in type. I have found the "instant conversion kit" that works ONLY with the screw-in types. Kinda like the ones featured here:
Screw-In Pendant Light | Instant Pendant Light | Recessed Lights | Worth Home Products
I was wondering if there are similar kits available for the plug-in reccessed lightings? If not, how can I go about changing the existing fixture to a CFL screw-in fixture so I can use the converter that is readily available - as shown in the link above.
By the way, someone mentioned that I should remove the CFL part of the existing fixture. Meaning, not use the red and black wires and use the black and white wires for the mini pendant instead.
Thanks a bunch for ANY help.

The only way I can think of how to accomplish what you want is to change the existing cans to the type with a lamp holder socket. The ones you have are florescent only. Above the ceiling is a ballast and coming off that ballast is the red and black wires. Do not attempt to wire a socket off those wires because the voltage from the wires is much higher than the standard 120v feeding the fixture.
