Bathroom fan won't shut off

I turned the bathroom exhaust fan on and when I went to shut it off, nothing happened...it still keeps running. Does anyone know of any reason why this may be happening or have any suggestions?

Is it a pretty old switch ?

Dont leave it too long, sounds like maybe a wire or (more likely) the switch has shorted out.

Is it just a regular up/down lighting type switch .. or one with a timer etc ?

(dont forget to kill the fuse/breaker before you start prodding around in the switch box)

Definitely the switch. Follow DaveC72's advice and cut off the breaker. Install a new single pole switch and you should be good to go.
