Question New ceiling fan with light kit and remote installation

im trying to wire a ceiling fan with light kit on it in bedroom and also want to wire in a hand held remote into it. there was no previous fixture on ceiling. im bringing new romex 14/3 from ceiling down to where there is a present wall switch that controls a corner wall outlet only. i want to pigtail off that switch. i have taken the single gang wall switch box out and am installing a double gang box so that i can have a togggle switch to turn power on and off to the ceiling light and fan combo. the remote is a harbour breese also and has a relay that is to be placed in side the light bracket that holds it to the steel ceiling box and brace. the remote has an antenna, black and white incoming leads and also on the other side it has a black a white and a blue wire that i gather go onto the three like color wires that are coming out of the top of the fan extension pipe.the romex coming out of ceiling has a bare,a black,a white and a red. i need to know where the black red and white go seeing there are only a black and white on relay incoming side! i also need to know how to wire the switch off of the switch presently ln the wall so that it works independently and does not opperate the wall outlet and only turns juoce on and off to fixture im installing.:

Welcome to the forums! In a remote control situation you won't be using the red wire, only the black (hot) and the white (neutral). What do you have the red wire connected to in the switch box? If nothing, cap both the red wire ends off, in the bell and in the switch box.

Unhappy new ceiling fanlight combo!

i dont have the wall switch wired yet! there is now my new romex that is going up to th fan/light in this double gang box ive installed. also there is the exsisting wall on off switch that powers the outlet on the same wall in the corner. that wall switch has a red and a black on the push in terninals and a bare that is screwed to the side of the switch as a ground. there is also a third romex that brings power to the switch from a circuit of power. this romex has only 3 wires on it the white the black and a bare wire/ ground. the bares are ill connected together and then to the side of the old exsisting switch to the outlet. the black is twisted together to the other black in the other exsisting romex and then a small 6 inch black goes from that into the old switch that was there and the white is twisted to the other white romex that exsisted and does not go to the exsisting switch! i need to know how to take my new switch im putting inside that box next to the old switch so i can draw power out of there and up to the fan/light with my new romex that i installed into this box. it has a red, black bare and a ground. your saying to not use the red at all, put the bare to ground on the side of the new switch! where do the black and red on the new romex go? off the side terminals of the old exsisting switch or just twist the black to all the blacks that are in the box twisted together and the white to the two other whites that are exsisting from before that just in the box not connected to the old switch?

Angry ceiling fan/light with remote!

my new romex that ive run from fan to new wall switch has red, white, bare, and a black! this is a second switch that i have installed in wall where previously was a single switch only that controlled a wall outlet in the same wall in the corner the origonal switch has a red and black and bare connected to it. now the two romex wires that were origonally in this box were wired as follows the bares from both were twisted together and a short third piece came off that to the side of the origional switch. the blacks from both romex wires were twisted together also and had a short piece coming off that to the origonal switch screw. both white wires from the two origional romex wires are just twisted tigether not going to the switch. and there is one red wire from one romex going straight to the other screw on the origional switch! the light remote has a white and black lead coming off of it only! i connected the white and black respectively to thesame color wires coming out of the ceiling romex! the bare in ceiling romex is to the ground in mounting box! i capped the red on both the ceiling and the switch! the power is now going to fan but there is only the black wire connected to the new switch and a bare wire also! there is a continuous power now going to the fan and it wont cut the power to fan when i flip the switch. the black on the new switch is connected to all three romexes in the switch box the red wire in my new romex coming into this box is not connected to anything the new white wire i brought in on new romex is twisted together with the two origonal romex whites and capped the baresin box are all connected to each other and to each side of both the new and old switches. i must need another wire on the other terminal on the new switch! but which one a red from the new romex or red from old switch? but white and black go to power fan at ceiling? how do i get this new switch to turn power to fan off and on?

Could you please try to capitalize the first letter of your sentences? It makes it much easier to read.

Did you wire the black into the constant hot side of the switch or the switched side? I think you may be sending a constant hot to the fan. Does the remote work properly?
