cfl g23-2 and g24-3 configurations

I am really confused. We discontinued some equipment that used the G24-d3 26 watt lamps. I had 8 left in stock so I got permission to take home. I purchased the g23-2 sockets and thought I could make some cheap lighting for my garage. They will not light. Is it because I need a separate ballast (magnetic) and I have wrong socket?

I also have some G23-2 sockets and lamps. I made a power cord plugged the lamp in a 120v outlet and it threw my breaker for the circuit. It also flashed the lamp then it then would not light. Check continuity on the socket and cord and found no short. I thought it was a fluke so I plugged in another. Like a big fuse it flashed then no light. These are supposed to be 120v cfl 9w. They have there own integrated ballast. Any ideas? These are to expensive to be doing this.

thx

Yes, you need a magnetic ballast for both.

The lamps have only an integrated starter.
