new vanity lamp fixture (2 lights) trying to install
Hi,
i bought portfolio vanity lamp fixture, 2lights, and trying to install it using flat plug extension cord with 3 prongs. Do not want to make holes or install new switch.
can somebody guide me? fixture has pair of black, white wires and one ground copper wire.
i might need to cut outlet of the extension cord and need to connect to lamp wires.
Thanks

Not really sure what you are trying to write. A vanity light must be installed on a properly wired fixture box. A "flat plug extension cord with 3 prongs" would in no way be involved in the installation.

Basically want to connect lamp wires directly to flat plug extension cord after stripping other end of the extension cord outlet. And connect cord plug into an electrical outlet that's in my living area.

That would not be code compliant. You need to install on a proper junction box. Is this an apartment? If so you need to ask your landlord to hire an electrician. Perhaps offer to pay for part of the cost.
If this is a house you own we will be glad to walk you through the installation process.

Is there a receptacle directly below where you want the light. Is there an unfinished attic directly above where you want the light or unfinished basement below. A picture or two might help us give you ideas. http://forum.doityourself.com/electr...your-post.html

Please stop attempting to continue down this road using an extension cord. This is not safe, nor is it by any means a code compliant solution to your issue.
