best ICAT recessed housing - Halo vs GE vs?

Hi,

I'm looking at the old-work ICAT (insulation contact air tight) 6" recessed housings. HD has Halo and GE housings , both 8" tall, both ICAT, both rated for 75 Watt, both have equivalent junction boxes, both look and feel almost identical.

What should I look at when choosing the recessed light housing? As I said, Watt rating, ICAT, size - are identical.

I'll need 10 or 12 of them. How do I choose which one is better?

Also, how important is it to get a permit and inspection for it? It's pretty simple and quiet job to add a few cans to your house, is inspection basically to protect against idiots who don't know the ground from hot wire, or is there a deeper meaning to it? I'm in Bellevue, Washington state.

Can't speak on either the Halo or GE. I prefer the Progress P187 series. Easy to install and the trim pulls really tight to the ceiling.

Permits act as another set of eyes to keep you installation safe and hopefully catch any errors you might have made.
