Ceiling fan lights work but not fan

It is a Harbor Breeze 103LO fan/light

The remote control stopped working and changing the battery has not had any effect. The codes have not been changed.

At around the same time the fan has stopped working. The chain on the ceiling fan has not effect at all. The chain for the light turns it on and off.

I opened the fixture on the wall. There are 3 switches in all but only one controls the celling fan/light. It has two hot black wires coming to the bottom and one hot black wire coming out from top if the switch is turned on ( I tested with a tester). There are white wires behind it that I did not pull out since it would require removing other switches.

On two occasions we have had the fan come on when we switched on the wall switch but at the same time the fan lights were dim. It has never come on when the lights were bright. And it has not happened except to those 2 times.

Should I open the ceiling fan wiring? What should I be looking for?

Thanks

Call Harbor Breeze and check with tech. Many fans are covered under warranty and the would send you the part. Not sure if it was the same brand but it worked for me.
