Greetings, I'm used to insalling simple fixtures, ceiling fans and the like but i'm not sure how to handle this situation. Essentially I am trying to install a Chandelier with lights. Normally this would be pretty easy however I'm working in a room that was a recent addition to the house that was added before we moved in. Instructions call for me to attach the Chandelier mounting hardware to the exsisting outlet box, however there is none. There is an 11X11 hole in the ceiling with some sort of housing already installed. But after that, I'm going to be left with an 11x11 hole in the ceiling and have to come up with a solution to get a outlet box installed somewhere in the middle of the 11X11 square. The second floor of this addition has the exact same setup. I already removed the housing there, so you can see what I will be left with if I remove the housing where I currently want to install the Chandelier: [url]http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af60/zrstopa/whatwillremain.jpg[/url] Hole size is exactly the same but the housing was just a little different (open vs closed), and the housing is inverted in the pic You can see the metal wire conduit and wires..those used to be attached to the other side of where you plug in the lightbulb in the housing Same basic idea downstairs. Just not sure where to go from here or what the typical course of action is to get an outet box installed and floating in the middle of a bigger opening. Please note I'm not worried about or trying to fix the [I]size[/I] of the hole at all...that opening will remain and I already have a ceiling medallion that will cover ther 11x11 opening. Hi All, I would like to install a new ceiling fan in my bedroom where there is NO existing light fixture. I've already marked off where the fan will be installed and I have limited access from above (crawl space) to mount the fan housing box directly on a stud. This room has a single toggle switch (light switch) controlling one 15A electrical recepticle. I'd like to know how I can get power to the fan pulling form the switch and the outlet receptical that the switch controls. Also, there is "slack" electrical wire above the room in the crawl space. Looks like it was intentionally left there. Can another wire of same guage be spliced into this to power the fan, or would it make more sense to pull directly fromt he switch/recepticle? Any details on wiring would be hugely beneficial as I would like to make sure I don't burn the house down :) Thanks!
