Dimming a Light w/ an Electronic Ballast

Maybe a dumb question, but do I need to get a special dimmer to dim a fluorescent light that has an electronic ballast? Here's the light:

if I recall correctly, you will need a special dimmer for the light and a special dimmable ballast. Or did you install CFL bulbs.

I installed the 2 T9 bulbs that came with the light. I dim our fluorescent can lights, but I guess this thing is a different beast. I know you can get dimmers specific for low-voltage electronic transformers... but again I guess this is a different scenario. Very much a novice here. Just looking to tame the brightness of this light a little. Perhaps I can get a "softer" T9 bulb if I can't dim it.

The only way you can get this verion to dim is get a dimming electronic ballast and matched dimmer controller and they are not cheap by the way and those two items you will not able find them in big box store unless they have specal order item otherwise electrical supply centre will have it.

The reason why I mention both electronic ballast and dimmer have to be matched so they can function properly if mismatched either electronic ballast or dimmer or both can get destoryed.

what type of ballast you have?

i cannot find the dimmable ballast on the phillips / advanced website

do you have 2 ballasts in there or 1

and what is the exact model number of the ballast for cross reference

as far as i can tell there is no dimmable ballast for that fixture

Probably need to go to a supply house and have them order a Lutron dimming ballast and control for the 2 lamps you have.
