Light fixtures not working
We have two light fixtures in our laundry room (the basic kind with the bare light bulb). The other day both stopped working. I checked the bulbs and they are good, and I used an electrical tester to verify that there is power to both fixtures when the switch is on.
What else could cause this? I am stumped. Thanks.

How many volts did you read on your meter? Was the reading from shell to tab? Have you tried bending the center tab of the lamp holder up a bit. Is there a GFCI receptacle in the laundry room?

I just used the pen size tester that showed power when the switch was on an and no power when it was off. I would be inclined to think it is the lamp holder, except both quit working at the same time. Thanks.

You need a tester with two probes that actually measure voltage such as a test light or multimeter or solenoid tester. I think what you are describing is a non contact tester. They can easily give a false reading.
First check all GFCIs to see if any are tripped. The GFCI could be anywhere inside or out or there could be none. Pull the fixtures and look for loose wires.
