Unhappy Collors problem

Hello,

Please help with wiring the ceiling fan.

From a fan to a switch goes 4 wires – 1 white; 1 black; 1 red; 1 ground. Power line (I want to tap in) has 2 black; 2 white; 1 red. How do I connect the wires?

Thank you very much.

-Mike

What do you see at the wall switch and how was the previous fixture in this location hooked up?

The was an old switch (controls a power outlet with a lamp). I want to replaced it with a new one to control fan and fan’s light (it has 2 separate switches on it). Outlet with lamp should be always ON (I can control it with a witch on a lamp).

You will need to add two black pigtails of wire to the black hots in the switch box to feed the new switches. You will add the white to the white splice. Connect all grounds together. You can add the old red at the switch to the black ho splice. The new black and red will control the fan and light kit.
