broken light switch

I have a broken light switch and it was still on when it broke. Will it be ok to turn the breaker off until I get a new switch?????

Ceiling Fan Issue - Steep Roof

I have a log house with a 12/12 roof. The electrician hanging my fixtures and such called and said he can't install the ceiling fans because the roof is too steep. It isn't that the blades would hit the ceiling, but that the down rod won't swivel enough to hang vertically. Surely there's a way to fix this??Read More

Recessed lighting airtight retrofit

Hi all, My house was built about 1997 and has 4 attic mounted DMF lighting DH6 IC housings. One of them is under the central air unit and thus is not accessible from the attic. I only mention this because I would be willing to replace the entire housings with airtight units but a retrofit solution, if it exists might be better. All of the DH6 housings that DMF sells are now airtight, yet they do sell an airtight trim. Does that mean that the trim is intended for retrofit to a non airtight housing? I get the impression DMF only sells to contractors. I noticed 2 other DIY methods for sealing the housings- The foam cooler method but that won't easily work either because the housings were placed right against the framing. Yet another method I saw is using foil tape to seal the holes. This worries me a little in that I suppose it could increase heat buildup (although these units do have auto shutoff) I already caulked the drywall opening from the interior side. I know the heat loss from these 4 units is small but I recently installed cellulose insulation so I'm concerned about dust also. Perhaps I'll e-mail DMF to see if there are any retail sources.
