Replace kitchen floods and garage light

Hello,

I'm looking to replace my recessed flood lamp bulbs in my kitchen with something more effecient and better looking that will plug right into the same socket. LED's seem to be very expensive right now, do i have any other options? Something that doesn't generate too much heat and will screw right in?

I also want to add floresent lights, maybe 2, 4 ft strips or larger to my garage. Are there any ideas, how to's on how to set them up and how to run power, etc. to them.

Thank you in advance for the help!!

They now have fluorescent flood bulbs. Feeling rich - give them a try.

As far as the garage, is there power already there? What else is on that circuit?
