recessed lighting installation

I'm in the process of installing recessed lighting in the kitchen. I'm replacing the recessed flouresent tube lighting with recessed can lights. As shown in the picture, the exsisting light bays are covered with drywall. Is is ok install the the recessed light in here with no issues? Should I just put insulation up in there before i put the new drywall in? I bought the Halo recessed light for installed into insulated areas.

Is an attic above this area or is it the framing for the second floor? i would only worry about insulation if this was under an attic.

There is an attic above this area. It is insulated above drywall inset. I guess I was more worried about fire issues, but I guess with the one for insulated ceilings it shouldnt be a problem with nothing around it.
