Ceiling fan - NO light fixture in ceiling
Is it possible to install a ceiling fan in a ceiling that has no light fixture? I've a small one-bedroom; bedroom and living-room are adjacent. They have wall fixtures but no ceiling fixtures. Windows all face North-West and a park, so I get hot afternoon to sunset sun. Air-conditioner in bedroom, but living-room does not cool enough. Ceiling fans in both rooms would help, but don't know how to install without existing ceiling fixture. Help? Thanks!

A way simple scope of work is to find a source of power. Decide how many and where you want the switches. Install a fan rated box to support the fan.

If it is an apartment, don't attempt the work. Your liability would be too great. Contact the resident manager or owner to have them perform the work. If they ok the work in writing, I would use a surface mounted raceway such as Quest FWH-12411 Surface Mount Raceway 1" x 48" White. They can be removed and the holes patched when you move out.
