New ceiling fan without an existing switch or light

I recemtly bought a house that the living room has no light in it at all. They used table lamps before. We want to install a ceiling fan in the living room. There are rooms above the ceiling as it is a two story house so, I am assuming I have to go from the basement/crawlspace. Can I get step by step running the wire throw the ceiling and the walls please?

You will need to find a source of power and decide how many and where you want the switches located. Most likely this will involve cutting and patching drywall.

Wiring under cabinet lighting to a wall switch

I want to install hardwired under cabinet lights before installing a tile backsplash. All of the lights I am finding have a switch on the light. My question is would it be OK to wire them (3) to a switch on the wall and leave the on/off switches on the lights "on" permanently? Or, if anyone knows of any under cabinet lights that are set up to be hardwired and don't have the switches, that would be great also. Thanks, GregRead More

Installed Light- Light turned on- Theres no light switch?

I just installed a new light bulb (recessed above kitchen sink). There was already in place a wire from (previous owner) where I'm assuming once was a light fixture. No I didn't test the wire prior to installing. I honestly thought it was connected to the other lightbulb in the kitchen as it appeared the line was piggy-backed off of that one. Any suggestions or Ideas how to trouble shoot where the line goes??Read More
