perskywh: Sodium Vapor Lights

I have been having the same problem. Two lights, sometimes both ae on, sometimes one and sometimes both are out. This occurs many times during the night. I was i Lowes today and asked a salesman in the electrical area and he said it sounded like the dusk to dawn sensor. I bought two replacments but haven't yet ried them. Am I wasting my time and money and need to replace the bulbs?

Perskywh, Welcome to the forums. Please in the future start your own threads. For now I have started one for you.

Try one with the photocell you bought. See how it works. If you still have problems by just one bulb and try it. Substitution is the usual way to check out the lights.

Tech note: "Dusk to dawn sensor" is just a fancy made up name for photocell.

Replace the bulbs. HPS lamps will cycle like that at their end-of-life. Most likely, the photocells are fine.
