help wiring fluorescent light

My new fixture has a green ground screw, which the instructions say needs to be grounded before operation. There is no ground coming from the conduit to ground it to, as the old fixture didn't have a ground that I can see. What should I do? Please help, I'm in the dark!

Welcome to the forums! Since conduit is in use, generally the conduit serves as the grounding medium. Inside the ceiling box there may or may not be a grounding screw. If not add one and attach the grounding wire from your fixture screw to it.

Chandler's answer assumes metal conduit continuous to the breaker panel.

Yes, I did, especially since there was no grounding conductor in the conduit. Let us know if it differs.

Thanks for the replies. I put a ground wire from green fixture screw to junction box cover screw with a 10g wire just to play it safe. Conduit might be enough, but it was easy to attach wire.

You should have used the hole in the back of the box and a 10-32 ground screw. Using the cover screw is not acceptacle. You will lose your ground when you open the cover.
