Basement Soffit Lighting

Hello,

I'm finishing my laundry room in my basement. I've drywalled the ceiling and I have a soffit covering some ductwork. With the drywall and recessed lights installed, I've realized it is kind of dark under the soffit. I would like to brighten the area up a little but with the ductwork inside the soffit, I am unable to fit recessed lights in there. I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas to light up this area. Thanks a lot.

Ryan

With it being finished it might be more difficult to run your wiring. Some good options might be some under cabinet lighting. You can get xenon, florescent, or LED. They tend to be very small in size and come in direct wire and plug in. Some are also linkable to you only have to run one feed.

I only put enough screws into the bottom piece of drywall to hold it up. So if I had to take it down to run some wiring, I could do that. I did think about doing wall sconces, but I think that the ceiling height in that area is too low so the sconces may look strange. I'll look into some under cabinet lights and see what they have to offer. Thanks.
