Halogen Light Plug

Hi,

I'm new here and this is my first post.

I need some help as I just bought a outdoor light that uses a Halogen 50W GU5.3 12V bulb(Philips 12v Dichroic 50mm - GU5.3 MR16 - Halogen Light Bulbs new light doesn't have a plug yet but its a 2 wire light.It has the brown wire & blue wire.

I want to connect a new plug but I'm not too sure if I should use a 2 pin plug or can I use a 3 pin Type G(Electricity around the world: everything about plugs, sockets, voltages, converters, etc. tried connecting a Type G plug and switched it on and the bulb exploded.

What am I doing wrong?My region is 240V 50Hz.

Can you please advise me?Thank you!
