Splicing track lighting to an indoor 12' extension cord

Hi, I have a track lighting fixture that came with a plug. I would like to splice the plug into an extension cord so it will reach the socket. I don't want to just plug it into the extension cord because the connection point between the plug and extension cord will then be dangling at head level, against the wall, right above my couch. I prefer to splice them together and then wrap them with white tape, simply to make a more aesthetic and lower profile connection.

Thanks

Your track was a listed fixture with its cord. Replacing the cord would remove the listing of the track.

Also the splices would need to be contained in a box.

You will not find instructions here to do what you are suggesting because it is not a recommended practice.
