If it is a 15 amp breaker you would use #14. If it is a a 20 amp breaker you would use #12. Are you going to use conduit or cable?

I plan on just using cable as i will fish the wire through a ceiling. I can make the ckt either 15 or 20 Amp. My question is which is required, the 15 or the 20.

A 15 amp circuit is more than enough for a ceiling paddle fan.

Do you have other power needs to the covered area?

It will be a fan light combo, but it will be in a screen room that was erected under an outside deck that will have some exposure to the elements however not much.
Thank you for your reply
