Ceiling Fan Problems

First things first: This house was build in the 1950s in Florida but the room where I am installing a new ceiling fan is an addition (I don't know when it was built). Perhaps some over confidence paired with a bad approach of not observing how the previous fan was hooked up got me here. Basically I disconnected all the wires I saw and took the fan out, untangled the mess and found three bundles of wires (please see image below) [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/cryII.png[/IMG] I got my handy multimeter from college and tested all wire combination and wire/switch combinations. WB1, WB2, WB3 correspond to the image. [LIST] [*][B]WB1[/B]: [B]Switch1 [/B]& [B]Switch2 [/B]have no effect [LIST] [*]Black & White = ~120V [*]Black & Red = ~73V [*]White & Red = ~27V [/LIST] [*][B]WB2[/B]: [B]Switch1 [/B]& [B]Switch2 [/B]have no effect AND no wires have voltage [*][B]WB3[/B]: [B]Switch1 [/B]has no effect [LIST] [*]Black & White = ~120V only when [B]Switch2 [/B]is flipped on [/LIST] [/LIST] A couple other bits of information. [LIST] [*][U]The ceiling fan also has a light[/U]. Previously, [B]Switch1 [/B](which has a fader) controlled turning the light on/off and [B]Switch2 [/B]controlled turning the fan on/off.The fan that was previously installed worked fine with the wall switches. [*]The red wires from [B]WB1 [/B]and [B]WB2 [/B]were originally connected when the old fan was installed but I don't know if any additional wires were connected to them. [/LIST] I know that often times the red wire is used with switches, but the number of bundles of wires is confusing me. Is [B]WB2 [/B]a pass through to have some other things receive power? That is really a side note. The main thing I am trying to figure out is how to get this fan wired so it works with two switches. :wall: Any insight is very appreciated!

My wife and I live in a rental built in the mid 20s. The dining room has 1 ceiling light that is in the center of the room. I have just finished building a farmhouse table and my wife wants 2 pendant lights to hang over it. Since it's a rental, we can't cut into the ceiling to hand 2 pendants normally. When I took apart the current 60's style ceiling light (with 4 120w bulbs), I found one black wire running into the current fixtures and 2 white wires connected to the 1 white wire from the fixture. There were also 3 black wires taped to together above the bracket. My hope is to hand two of the Ottava pendant from ikea ([url=http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70148531/]OTTAVA Pendant lamp - IKEA[/url]).
