adding new ceiling light with a dimmer switch

I wired a new ceiling light with a dimmer switch and just want assurance that I did it rght. I brought the 2wire from the light to the wall box and the 2 wire from the power to the wall box , tied both white wire together, tied the grounds together, put the dimmer in series with both black wires. It works and the dimmer works fine, just doesn't seem right.
Thanks

Seems right to me. What do you think should be different?

That sounds exactly right. Is there something specific that you're concerned about? Did you bond the ground to the (metal) box, or to the ground screw on the dimmer?

Too many projects at once, I did ground the switch and at the power source. Getting confused
Thanks for your reassurance
