Is my ceiling box suitable for a fan/light?
I want to mount a ceiling fan in my 50-s built house. I removed axisting light fixture and found there was now any marks indicated it was suitable for a fan. I attached a picture. I will appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance,
Leonid

No it isn't fan rated. The mounting ears tell the story. They are too light weight and probably 8-32. Good news is it should probably be easy to remove. That screw in the center is probably all you need to loosen to remove it.

I happened to still have a pix of a fan rated box that will help you understand fan rating. You will need 10-24 screws to attach your fan spanner to the box and only to the posts, and not to the ears.
Do you have access above this box?
