LED light (MR16) good as reading light?
Hi,
I have a few MR16 (12 V) track light fixtures in my house and they are
mainly used as reading lights for kids.
The current halogen bulbs (50W each) has a few drawbacks including
short life, bulbs becoming dimmer/foggy along use, etc.
I am thinking of replacing them with LED bulbs. I've found some which
received fairly good reviews, such as this one:
Amazon.com: LED MR16 3200K Warm White Spotlight 12V 4W (340 Lumen - 50 Watt Equivalent) 60 Degree Beam angle: Home Improvement
My concern is that the LED lights can flicker since the voltage (12V)
provided by the fixture (from Homedepot) is AC instead of DC and I don't
want kids' eyes get hurt due to flickering light source.
Does anyone have any info related to LED lights for this application?
Thanks,

Although I don't think the LED version is as bright as the halogen one, I don't think flickering is a problem. I haven't noticed the flickering. You might try getting one piece as a sample so you can test it in your application.
