Hi, I have a ceiling fan with light integrated. The both go to seperate switched on the wall. One switch is for turning on the light the other one for turning on the fan. I would like to change the switch for the fan with a dimmer. I found out now that there are two kinds of dimmers. One regular and one called fan dimmer.. Do I have to use a fan dimmer or can I use a regular one too? Thank you

I was installing some FG insulation in my attic and was noticing the the the wiring scheme for my main floor lighting. The main floor of my home has five rooms, all with separate switches that only control the light for their respective rooms. It appears whoever wired it took a 12-2 line from the panel and fed it into a junction box in the middle of the attic. From there 5 separate 12-2 lines come out of the j-box and to the 5 light switches on the main floor and then each switch has another 12-2 line going to its respective light. My question....is it ok to have one 12-2 line from the panel feeding 5 other lines? I looked into the j-box and all the white neutral lines are connected together and all the black hot lines are connected together and all the grounds are connected with a pigtail grounding it to the box. Was this just another way of wiring all the main floor lights on the same circuit or do I have a problem here? Any help would be appreciated. :confused:
