Brand new Ceiling fan stopped working

So fan is so new it's being used to suck dry wall dust out of the room as my handiman is dry walling, is this bad? Its guts are covered in dust. It's also been left on for hours at a time to help dry the mudding stuff for the drywalling. It finally quit working today.
Motor dead due to misuse or a dud?

Cheers,
T

Welcome to the forums.

I could see a ceiling fan help move the air and dry the spackle. I can't see how it would help suck the dust out of the room unless you are talking about an exhaust fan.

The dust may have choked off air to the motor needed for cooling. You will have to take it apart to see for sure.

No matter which style fan it is both never should have been used to get rid of sanding dust.
Just setting a cheap box fan in a window with the screen removed would have done it.
