T8 ballast

T8 ballast

I'm trying to replace the T8 ballast in my 4 lamp light . The ballast that is there now has 1 black 1 white and 1 yellow at one end . And 2 red , 2 blue , 2 brown , and2 gray at the other . But the only T8 ballast's I can find Have 1 white , 1 black ,and 2 yellow at one end . 2 red and 2 blue at the other . I'm stumped . Help please

Just follow the wiring diagram on the new ballast.

I sounds like the replacement ballast has the same wires as the existing ballast except for the brown and gray wires. Brown and gray are usually high-voltage colors, for use with 277/480V commercial systems. If that's what they were intended for, they should not have been connected in the fixture and you should not need them.

Study the wiring diagram on each ballast. Use the one on the new ballast to wire it in, as Furd suggested.
