Installing Bath Fixture
Separated from: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/li...ple-wires.html
I don't know anything about this kind of things but thought it won't be so difficult. It is newly built unit. I just wanted to install one fixture in the bathroom by connecting black wire to black wire, red to red...
Open the cover I saw 4 white wires and one ground like wire. Two of 4 white wires must work as black ones and the other two as red. But how can I tell???
By guessing I connected two of 4 wires to the wire of the fixture. Power went out... I changed the combination. Well, somehow it lights up...dark... then realized that the spot light in the bathroom got darken as if they were sharing the power. They seems to be connected???
Am I doing something danger? or it supposed to be dark if I use two lights?
How can I brighten up my bathroom?

Welcome to the forums!
You almost certainly don't have four neutral wires there, so the odds are that you're looking at white paint. Have you tried scraping the paint off the insulation? A thumbnail will usually do it.
BTW, you opened the cover of what to find these wires?
Possibly. It's more likely you're just doing something ineffective. Wiring lights in series on alternating current will cause the lights to be dimmer.
You need to determine which wire is the switch-controlled hot wire and which is/are neutral. The best tool for that is an analog multimeter, which you should be able to buy for less than $15 US.
You should also buy and read a copy of Wiring Simplified, which is authoritative on how and why residential electrical systems and components work, readable, and inexpensive.
