Recessed light bulb sizes
Hi. I recently replaced several old BR30 bulbs in my kitchen with nice, new LEDs. However, 3 of the cans (2 over an island and 1 over sink) are much deeper than the rest of them. They seem to be the same width (the BR30 fits fine width-wise) but there's a good 2-3 inches of space between the bulb and ceiling. Is there another size bulb that is the same width but simply deeper?

All of the recessed housings I have seen/used have an adjustment on the height of the socket. It is a fairly limited adjustment but is IS there. Your particular housings may not have such an adjustment.

Is there anything that's the same width as a BR30, but not as deep? Or do I just need to figure out, as mentioned above, how to adjust the socket height? In another room or our house we have some recessed lights where the bulbs (currently BR30 CFL, but I also tried BR30 Philips LED) fit perfectly as far as diameter, but stick out a good 1/2" or more.
