Siemens Circuit/Panel breakers rating.

I have SIEMENS G4040MB1200 panel breaker installed in home. When I look it up online and on label I find that it is 200-Amp load center. When I calculate total AMP from each breaker TOTAL comes to 580 AMP. Am I missing/miscalculating something?

Does this mean that if 5 breakers with 40 AMP rating trips then it will cut off the MAIN?

When you calculate load on a panel you need to add up devices...... not circuit breaker size.

You have a 20 amp breaker for the kitchen but nothing is on.... no load there. So you can't count that circuit as an automatic 20amp load.

What you do need to do is make sure your 200amp service is big enough for all your large loads.
Make a list of big loads..... like electric heat, electric cooking, electric cooling, electric hot water heating.

I have in excess of 800 amperes worth of circuit breakers on my 200 ampere main circuit breaker. I seriously doubt that I have ever pulled in excess of 50 amperes total on my service.
