hanging new light on old wiring tripping breaker

I purchased a home that had wires hanging out of the ceiling with wire nuts on them. I tested the wires and they had power running to them. I hooked up the new light and it keeps tripping the breaker. I replaced the light switch and put a new breaker in. The house has knob and tube wiring. Any help would be appreciated. The house has a 200 amp new box in it but half the house is knob and tube and half is updated wiring. Thank you in advance.

Is there a ceiling box or just wires hanging out?
Any access in the attic above this?
Very likely cause when working with old wire is the insulation fell apart and it's now touching the metal box.
