Second light on 3way

Hello all

Well on to my second project now

This time i want to ad a ceiling light in a stair case. Now in this stair case there is 2 parts. The first part at the bottom there is a light on the ceiling and it works with a wall switch witch is also controlled with a 3 way switch at the top of the stair case. The bottom of the stair case gives to the basement and the second part of the stair case gives going up to the house but it is a bite dark there so i want to put a ceiling light there.

My question is should i run my cable to the downstairs ceiling light or go for the upstairs 3 way light switch.

If i go for the 3 way switch how shall i plug the wires in the box.

Thanks all

Going to the light makes more sense. You know you have a hot and neutral there. You may not have a hot and neutral at the switch.
