Socket Loose in 4" recessed fixture

I've been tearing my hair out trying to get a stupid light bulb out of a 4" recessed can (new construction). The bulb itself wouldn't turn in the threads, and after lots of trying I managed to bust loose the socket inside of the can. So then the only resistance I got was due to the wires wrapping around the freely spinning socket.

I couldn't remove the trim so I wound up putting a plastic baggie around the bulb and breaking it out so I could at least grab on to the trim to remove it. Now I've got the trim out but can't seem to get the housing to come down. I've tugged on it pretty firmly but no-go, and I tried grabbing it with pliers too without success.

Can someone suggest next steps for how to solve this? Nothing like having a
"change a light bulb" project turn into an all-morning affair...

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

Don't you just love it when a plan doesn't come together

Can you read a brand name off the tag inside the can ?
