MR 16 Led Spot lamp light

Hello all

I am a the kind of guy that has Led all over the house. Not one light bulb is left unturned so they are all Led every one of them and in my bathroom over the sink there is a canopy with 2 electrical boxes where we plug in the MR16 lights. At first i plugged in 6 watts Led lights and had ad no problems at all just kept on going like it without no issues.

Now i plug in the new ones i got the MR16 but 5X3 watts and in just a matter of no time at all they burnt out so why is this. Why do they burn out like this in no time at all ??????????

I understand 2 boxes with 6 watt LED's.

I don't understand the 5x3 watts reference.

Most transformers that run incandescent lighting operate near 12v when they are loaded.
If you are using the same transformers to run LED lights..... then the voltage may be too high.

Does your LED type MR-16 have a maximum voltage listed ? Exceeding that will shorten it's life.

Yes..... you need to check the metal box/tranformer for 12 VDC.
You may find that it's 12VAC since it was previously running incandescent lamps.
