Removing a 3 Way Switch

We are removing the wall between our kitchen and dining room to create 1 room.

The victim wall currently includes 3 way switches that control dining and kitchen lights. Kitchen light is also controlled by switch by kitchen entry and dining light also controlled by a switch at dining entry.

If we decide that we don't need the 3 way switches anymore, do codes allow me to eliminate the extra switch location as long as I can do so without damaging the light circuits or breaking other wiring rules?

Do codes require me to have a 3 way switch, or do we only need it if we want it?

Thank you.

AFAIK, there's no rule requiring you to have more than one wall switch. For convenience, you might want to.
