We are attempting to replace a fried Hunter fan (type 2 model) light kit (3 bulbs) but are having difficulty finding the same type of fixture in the desired finish. Thought maybe it would be easier to go with a globe/bowl style since glass goes with anything and it would be easier to only have to find a matching finial. Those all seem to have a 2-light system. Is is possible to change from a 3-light to a 2-light fixture? The connector is a basic snap together plug- square, white w/ 9 holes. Any guidance appreciated- thanks!

AFAIK, Hunter doesn't offer a retrofit light kit for its Type 2 fans. I've had good success adding the 3-bulb kits from Westinghouse. One is in our bedroom right now.
But yes, if you can securely mount it to the bottom of the control hub and the connectors match, you can use a light kit with any number of lampholders in it. That part doesn't matter.
