mixing 14-2 with older 12-2 for new recessed LED lights
I am planning on replacing two kitchen fluorescent lights (on separate switches), but the same circuit, which are wired with older 12-2, when the home was built on 1980. I was told by an expert at Home Depot, just use 14-2 to connect to the 12-2 which was feeding the fluorescent lights. I plan to daisy chain the new LED lights which were on the separate 2 separately switched old fluorescent lights. Again, both of these old fluorescent lights are on a 20 amp breaker. Now I've been told that 14-2 should be used on a 15 amp breaker, maximum. If I use 14-2 for this project, should I change the 20 amp breaker to a 15 amp breaker.
Thanks for any advice,
Frank
