First floor ceiling fan = Second floor hum.

We've installed new ceiling fans as the old were heavy, inefficient and didn't move enough air. The old fans had the same issue.

Whats going on?
When the ceiling fan is on downstairs, there is a really annoying humming noise on the floor directly above it.
I would say its concentrated to about a 5-10 foot radius. If you leave the room having the ceiling fan below, you do not hear the noise.

The noise is equivalent to a refrigerator or water cooler upstairs.

As soon as the fan is turned off, the noise goes away.

Do the fans mount to a junction box? Did you use fan rated boxes for the fans?

I suspect vibration from loose mounting in the the way the box is mounted or the fan to the box.
