Question Fan installation in 3.5 inch fan rated box

Hi folks,

I purchased a cookie cutter walmart quality home from the local shanty manufacturer. The local building code states that the bedrooms shall have a fan rated box included. And thats all fine and dandy except the fan rated boxes are of course the lightest crummiest cheapest POS the builder could find. They are indeed fan rated at 35lbs according to the manufacturer. Most every fan I have looked at has a bracket with screw holes wider than the holes in the existing fan box, even the smaller hunter fans. What manufacturers and what sizes of fan should I be looking for to accomodate this 3.5" box?? What alternate hardware could I use to install fans that meet the ratings? Attached is pic of one identical to what I see although im not sure if its nail in or joist spanning but all of these types of boxes have the same ratings. Any info is appreciated. Thanks alot.

All of the brackets I have seen are slotted for different sized boxes.

I've hung fans on 3" boxes and on no box at all.

Hmmm. The bracket I tried to put up did have slots but the ends of the slots were wider than the box holes. I'll have to try again. Thanks for input
