Flipping switch twice for bathroom exhaust fan

We just had a house built and are in the process of getting all the details attended to. I discovered that to turn on the bathroom exhaust fans, you have to flip the switch twice...not too fast...not too slow. My contractor doesn't know why and stated that all the new houses have that. This is aggravating to say the least. Can anyone explain this and can it be changed to the conventional method...on...off ! Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

I've never installed an exhaust fan like that. Is there a manufacturers name on the grille ?

You most likely have a sensor fan. The first flip turn it on sensor mode and the second manually turns it on
