Wire outlet's cable inside range hood

Hi there,

We are remodeling kitchen and installing new range hood and gas stove. Gas stove needs a new outlet (for timer and ignition). We placed the outlet closer to the bottom, but the closest line to draw power from is the line that goes to range hood located above. The original plan was to put another outlet or box on top to to connect both line together however due the cabinets layout and duct (that is behind the wall) it is not feasible. My contractor suggesting that both the new outlet line and range hood line be hard-wired inside the range hood. He says it is normal practice. I know that's it is Ok to hardwire range hood but is it Ok to connect the outlet this way?

Please advice.

Do you not have the current code required two 20 amp small appliance only receptacle circuits? The stove can plug into them.
