Power at ceiling fan but no fan/light operation

I have no clue what's going on with my ceiling fan/light. There's power at the fan/light, but nothing works. How can that happen? The fan in maybe 1 year old and a decent quality. We had a storm the other night. Is it possible something could be damaged inside the fan/light? If so, what part of a fan could be damage, yet nothing else in my house be damaged?

Does that particular unit use a remote? Connect something else to the box, as a test. There could be a lost neutral somewhere.

The unit does use a remote. That's the only way to turn it off and on (aside from the chains on the unit, which I tried too). I'll try connecting something else and see what happens. I don't know enough about electricity to know that it would matter, but there are many things on the same circuit that still turn off and on. I'll also reply to PJmax's post.

I believe the remote receiver got fried. After opening everything up, it's warm to the touch.

Just wanted to confirm it was the remote receiver that was the issue. I took the receive out, now everything if fine. Not sure why I wanted a remote in the first place, I can easily reach the chains.
