Ceiling Fan wiring - 4 sets of wires coming from ceiling box

I really need some help wiring a ceiling fan/light. There are extra wires coming from the ceiling and of course I failed to take a pic to see how the previous fan/light was wired. I made a diagram (had to use the ipad so not the greatest)Name: Fan.jpg

Here is what I've got:

From the ceiling:

Set#1 ground (green in the pic), black and white (yellow in the pic);

Set#2 ground, black and white. When I touch the black and white with a VAC/DC tester it lights up. I circled this set with orange. None of the other wires light it up;

Set#3 ground, black and white (the brown tip indicates that it was cut with no copper exposed - meaning it was not connected to anything);

Set#4 ground, black and white (the white has a piece of red tape on it)

From the light switch:

white from the wall (brown tip indicates it is not connected to anything); grounds connected; black from the wall connected to bottom of fan switch; black connecting the fan and light switch at the tops; black connected to top of light switch from the wall; white (marked w/ red tape) connected to bottom of light switch to the wall.

From the fan:

Black (fan motor); blue (light); white; green (ground)

There is one outlet in the room which is not getting power. I do not know if it ever worked.

Any help you could provide would be sincerely appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

You are showing us 4) two conductor cables. We leave the grounds out of our discussion but they still need to be connected when done.

Connect the white of cable 1 to the white of cable 2
Connect the black of cable 1 to the black of cable 2

Your receptacle should now work again

The white of cable 3 is not used.
The black of cable 3 connects to the black of the fan/light unit for fan.

The white of cable 4 connects to the blue of the fan/light unit for the lights.
The black of cable 4 connects to the black connection of cable 1 and cable 2.

Connect the remaining white fan wire to the cable 1 and 2 white connection.
