Ceiling fan switch replacement

Hello,

I'm a beginner when it comes to electrical stuff.

The pull chain on the fain is stuck and will not pull down anymore. I read online that I need to replace the switch.

I know that I need to turn off the breaker to the ceiling fan before I get started. The question that I have is that I read there is a capacitor inside of the fan and I'm concerned with stored electricity. Does the switch connect to the capacitor and is it safe to disconnect and reconnect it to the capacitor without being shocked by stored electricity.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a problem.
First need to check the switch and see how many wires are going to it so you buy the right switch.
Take the time to draw a diagram.
Only work on one wire at a time to avoid confusion

The capacitor discharges very quickly and won't shock you.
