Rewire ceiling fan light fixture?

Hi there,

I have two Harbor Breeze ceiling fans that have halogen fixtures installed in them.

I recently bought some LED Hue light bulbs from Philips and I am looking into the possibility of replacing the halogen socket in the fans with the standard Edison screw-type sockets that the Hue bulbs use.

I'm not sure this will work due to the different voltages that may be involved, but I'd like to give it a shot since these are the primary lights in some of my rooms. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

I think that they are both the same voltage (120VAC). The problem will be changing sockets and seeing that the new bulbs are hidden by the diffuser.

You should be able to disconnect the light kit which will make things easier.

Just use a new light kit, one with Edison base sockets.
