Ceiling Fan wiring - Nightmare

Hello all!

First time home owner looking for input from the experts!

Twin built in mid 50's

Master bed room had a harbor breeze ceiling fan mounted on a joist mount. It was not our style and it made noise.

We bought a new harbor breeze. I wired it in the same way the old one was. Now the new one is not working. I have yet to check volts(father inlaw is coming over with the tool)

But I wanted to get some input in the wiring. It's odd to my untrained eye.

There is one hot wire coming from the ceiling box. One ground wire. Two wires that where (and remain) capped together. And the main thing that concerns me: 4 neutral wires. Yes. The old fan had is neutral wire capped with four wires.

Anyone have any input?

Thanks everyone!!!

Can you post a picture of the wires. Do not undo any connections, just pull out so we can see. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/li...-pictures.html
