double light switch issue

On the stairs to my basement is a light that is controlled by 2 different light switches, a basic single light switch at the top of the stairs and then one of the switches on a combo switch (the other switch controls the garage light). It has always worked well until this past month. Now, if you turn it on with the upstairs switch it turns on and off fine at either switch, but if it is turned on with the downstairs switch, it will stay on when you turn off the upstairs switch. I hope that makes sense. I have no idea why it would all of a sudden do that and have no idea how to fix that. Any ideas?

Do you have power coming into it?

This is an overhead light so there is no GFCI. It also hasn't been touched since we moved in several years ago and only started doing this recently so I wouldn't think it would be wired incorrectly.
