Please help! Ceiling Light fixture installed but switch will not turn it off.

hi I have own a condo in toronto and trying to install one ceiling light bymyself.

the light fixture has:

white - live
white - natural
yellow - ground

and on the ceiling i have:

black wire
white wire
green wire
one single wire ( copper )

so i connect the black to white live, and white to white natural. and yellow to single wire ( copper ). the light is one when i turn on the power, but the switch can not turn off the light. i try using the green to connect the white natural but has the same problem. i can only turn off the main power to turn off the light. can anybody help me out!! thank you

Sounds silly, but are you sure that you are using the correct switch to turn the light on and off? Open up the switch and see what the wiring configuration is, and let us know.

Almost nothing you posted sounded correct.
the light fixture has:
white - live
white - natural
yellow - ground
A light fixture should have a black and white wire plus a green ground. Yellow is never ground and I don't know what you mean by white- live. There should be only one white and it is always neutral.
so i connect the black to white live, and white to white natural. and yellow to single wire ( copper
None of that sounds correct. It should be black to black (or red or yellow or blue), white to white, green to bare (or green).

Lets start from scratch:

What color are all the wires coming into the ceiling box. (Not just the ones you thing are relevant.)

Do you have cable or conduit?

Tell us all the wires and connections at the switch.

Given the weird wire colors for the light, was it made for use in Canada?
